National
STD and AIDS Hotline
Information:
The National STD and aids hotline provides Free
Sexually Transmitted Disease information and
clinic referrals. Operators are available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week for those needing
assistance and information about STDs and HIV/AIDS.
The ability of a caller to get through to a
live operator will be greatly enhanced. Call
blockage will be significantly reduced. Operators
will now be thoroughly knowledgeable about both
STDs and HIV/AIDS. The phone numbers for the
hotlines remain the same, and are listed below.
Information is the first line of defense in
preventing STD and HIV infection. Unfortunately,
there is still a great deal of stigma attached
to discussions of these issues. The CDC National
STD and AIDS Hotlines can help by offering reliable
information in a friendly, non-threatening,
non-judgmental atmosphere. The hotline is operated
under contract by the American Social Health
Association (ASHA), a non-profit organization
dedicated solely to the prevention and control
of STDs. For answers to your STD/AIDS related
questions, referrals to local test sites, treatment
centers, or other services, please call!

PAL
Information:
PAL is a youth crime prevention program that
utilizes educational, athletic and recreational
activities to create trust and understanding
between police officers and youth. It is based
on the conviction that young people- if they
are reached early enough – can develop
strong positive attitudes towards police officers
in their journey thorough life toward the goal
of maturity and good citizenship. The PAL program
brings youth under the supervision and positive
influence of a law enforcement agency and expands
public awareness about the role of a police
officer and the reinforcement of the responsible
values and attitudes instilled in young people
by their parents.
Studies have shown that if a young person respects
a police officer on the ball field, gym or classroom,
the youth will likely come to respect the laws
that police officers enforce. Such respect is
beneficial to the youth, the police officer,
the neighborhood and the business community.
Cops & Kids – Working Together for
a better tomorrow.
The National Police Athletics/Activities Leagues,
Inc. exists to prevent juvenile crime and violence
by providing civic, athletic, recreational and
educational opportunities and resources to PAL
Chapters.
