CA that are affiliated with the UC Office of
the President’s Academic Centers of Excellence.
The Bay Area site is located at the East County
Boys and Girls Club in Pittsburg, CA. The Academic
Center of Excellence aims to build a college
going culture in the East Bay. Our objectives
are 1.) To promote a college-going culture among
students in this community. 2.) To increase
their academic competitiveness 3.) To increase
the number of students who enroll in two-and
four-year institutions of higher education.

The Mt. Diablo Unified School District together
with the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator’s
Office and the five participating school districts
have made a commitment to support and grow the
Afterschool4All Collaborative which provides
comprehensive after-school services to over
8,700 students mostly students of color from
low-income families.

After
School Enrichment Program

Information:
Over the last eight years the Mt. Diablo Unified
School District Collaborative has been operating
a 3+ hour a day, 5 day a week after school program
comprised of academics, enrichment, recreation
and health. The After School Program serves
students K-8 at the following school sites:
Bel Air, Delta View, Rio Vista, Shore Acres
Elementary and Riverview Middle School. Participating
youth are offered a variety of visual and performing
arts opportunities in addition to enrichment
and technology education through assemblies,
classes and field trips.

The Success Through Self Academy Bridges the
gap between inter-city youth who prosper and

who struggle and sometimes fail. STS Academy
helps to bridge this gap by establishing frequent

Achievement and Possibilities YAP/gap

Information:
The Youth Achievement and Possibilities program
targets the children of low-income working parents
who live in the unincorporated community of
Bay Point. YAP has assisted these families by
offering a structured program of age- appropriate
educational and enrichment activities to young
children ages 6-11 years old during the four
major “gaps” in the school calendar.
YAP/gap keeps at risk youngsters safe and constructively
engaged allowing their parents to maintain their
jobs (and peace of mind) during school vacations.
