History
Purchased in 1997, our 515 Railroad Avenue
home was built in 1926 by Coast County
Gas & Electric, then later became
home of the Pittsburg's Post-Dispatch.
It was recently renovated into our current
modern museum and cultural center with
permanent displays and meeting room.
We were officially recognized by the Pittsburg
Chamber of Commerce on 18 October 1961.
Charter members included the Buchanan
family, Norma Daly, O'Hara family, the
Davi family, Marie Harper, the Killoughs,
& Theresa (Gatto) Freed.
Our last home, a former Chevron clubhouse,
was the small house on the edge of City
Park. The club house was donated to the
museum by the Standard Oil substation
located at Loveridge and Hwy.4. across
from the Industrial area. The station
was right on the corner. It was around
1966 when it was moved to the location
on 40 Civic Avenue. Later, the station
was torn down and is now a sand &
gravel place. |
