The versatility of Pittsburg High School’s Creative Arts Building will be displayed Saturday, June 3, when two performances are scheduled that will rock the building with music and laughter.
"The Mix ’06,” the second annual G-rated youth concert, will be held at 3 p.m. in the Big Theatre. Local comedian Johnny Steele will perform in the Little Theatre at 8 p.m.
Sponsored by the New Mecca Café, Chozen Muzic and CAB Concerts, “The Mix ’06” offers hip hop, rock and dance performers in a positive, drama-free event. The concert features young performers and is for audiences of all ages.
The hip hop headliner will be The Circuit, featuring Choze, Shauny-B, Kennedy and Go Hard. Other hip hop performers are Jungle Rock and Indecent & Krypto. The rock headliner is 3 p.m., which has won several talent competitions in Oakland and San Francisco and includes Pittsburg High School students and graduates. Other rock bands are Toy Robots and Razero.
Also performing are Bay Reppin’ and Little Bay Reppin’ all-star dance teams. Johnny Steele, Pittsburg’s funniest favorite son, returns home for a one-man comedy cavalcade presented by pittsburgca.net and CAB Concerts in an evening show. Steele, the 1992 San Francisco International Comedy Competition winner, will have sides splitting with laughter with his in-your-face observations and remembrances of growing up in Pittsburg.
Pre-sale tickets for both concerts are available at Raley’s, 1369 Buchanan Rd., Pittsburg. “Mix” tickets are $8. Tickets for Johnny Steele are $10. Tickets for Steele’s performance are also available at Ostertag’s Tuxedo, 4509 Century Blvd., Pittsburg; Silver Knight, 3742 Railroad Ave., Pittsburg; and The Prop Table, 500 W. 4th St., Antioch.
Tickets are also available at the door for $10 (“Mix”) and $15 (Johnny Steele). Information: 432-6838. |
